Music Ministry

To worship God with His people is the greatest duty and privilege we have as human beings. And throughout Scripture, music plays an important role in worship. In worship, music allows a diverse group of people to join their hearts and voices together in unified praise of God.

The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church seeks to honor the Scriptural model for music in worship by leading God’s people in music that is joyful, reverent, excellent, simple, and Christ-centered. We sing a variety of psalms and hymns from the Trinity Hymnal, as well as some older hymn texts set to newer tunes and modern hymns and spiritual songs. We believe it is wise to provide a balance of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in an appropriate range of styles in order to reflect the history of the Church and the diversity of our congregation.

God has blessed our church with several excellent musicians who faithfully contribute to the Music Ministry. Our musicians play a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, violin, cello, and clarinet. We also have a Children’s Choir and an Adult Choir that rehearse and sing in Morning Worship in the Spring and the Fall.
